સુન્દરકાંડ.
અથ પંચચત્ત્વારિંશસ્સર્ગઃ||

તતસ્તે રાક્ષસેંદ્રેણ ચોદિતા મંત્રિણસ્સુતાઃ|
નિર્યયુર્ભવનાત્ તસ્માત્ સપ્તસપ્તાર્ચિવર્ચસઃ||1||

સ|| તતઃ રાક્ષસેંદ્રેણ ઉદિતાઃ મંત્રિણઃ સપ્તાર્તિ વર્ચસઃ સપ્ત સુતાઃ તસ્માત્ ભવના ત્ નિર્યયુઃ||

Commanded by the king of Rakshasas, the seven sons of the minister, energetic like fire, then departed from the palace.

મહબલપરીવારા ધનુષ્મંતો મહાબલાઃ|
કૃતાસ્ત્રાસ્ત્રવિદાં શ્રેષ્ઠાઃ પરસ્પરજયૈષિણઃ||2||
હેમજાલપરિક્ષિપ્તૈર્ધ્વજવદ્ભિઃ પતાકિભિઃ|
તોયદસ્વનનિર્ઘોષૈ ર્વાજીયુક્તર્મહારથૈઃ||3||
તપ્તકાંચન ચિત્રાણિ ચાપાન્યમિત વિક્રમાઃ|
વિષ્ફારયંતઃ સંહૃષ્ટાઃ તટિત્વંત ઇવાંબુદાઃ||4||

સ||મહાબલપરીવારાઃ શ્રેષ્ઠાઃ મહાબલાઃ ધનુષ્મંતઃ કૃતાસ્ત્રવિદાં પરસ્પરજૈષિણઃ સ્યાત્||હેમજાલપરિક્ષિપ્તૈઃ ધ્વજદ્ભિઃ પતાકિભિઃ તોયદસ્વન નિર્ઘોષૈઃ વાજિયુક્તૈઃ મહારથૈઃ નિર્યયુઃ||તપ્તકાંચન ચિત્રાણિ ચાપાનિ વિષ્ફારયંતઃ તટિત્વંતઃ અંબુદા ઇવ અમિત વિક્રમાઃ સંહૃષ્ટાઃ નિર્યયુઃ ||

(They were) endowed with great army. Mighty, best, experts in archery, having learnt all about Astras, desirous of winning over each other ,they went in chariots decked with golden mesh mounted with flag masts and flags making sounds like stormy clouds. (They were) Sporting wonderful bows shining with molten gold , like clouds shining with lightning, vary valiant and delighted.

જનન્યસ્તુ તતસ્તેષાં વિદિતા કિંકરાન્ હતાન્|
બભૂવુશ્શોકસંભ્રાંતાઃ સબાંધવસુહૃજ્જનાઃ||5||

સ|| તતઃ તેષાં સબાંધવસુહૃત્ જનાઃ જનન્યસ્તુ કિંકરાન્ હતાન્ વિદિત્વા કામસંભ્રાંતાઃ બભૂવુઃ||

Then their friends and relatives , and mothers too knowing that Kinkaras have been killed have become agitated.

તે પરસ્પરસંઘર્ષા તપ્તકાંચનભૂષણાઃ|
અભિપેતુર્હનૂમંતં તોરણસ્થ મવસ્થિતમ્||6||
સૃજંતો બાણવૃષ્ટિં તે રથગર્જિત નિસ્સ્વનાઃ|
વૃષ્ટિમંત ઇવાંબોધા વિચેરુર્નૈરૃતાંબુદાઃ||7||
અવકીર્ણસ્તતસ્તાભિર્હનુમાન્ શરવૃષ્ટિભિઃ|
અભવત્સંવૃતાકારઃ શૈલારાડિવ વૃષ્ટિભિઃ||8||

સ|| તપ્તકાંચન ભૂષણાઃ પરસ્પરસંઘર્ષાત્ તોરણસ્થં અવસ્થિતમ્ હનૂમંતં અભિપેતુઃ||રથગર્જિત નિસ્વનાઃ તે નૈઋતાંબુદાઃ બાણવૃષ્ટિમ્ સૃજંતઃ વૃષ્ટિમંતઃ અમ્બુદા ઇવ વિચેરુઃ||તતઃ તાભિઃ શરવૃષ્ટિભિઃ અવકીર્ણઃ હનુમાન્ વૃષ્ટિભિઃ સંવૃતાકારઃ શૈલારાડિવઅભવત્ ||

Wearing burnished ornaments of gold which were dashing against each other, they attacked Hanuman perched on the archway. Roaring with the chariots rattling , they sent forth torrent of arrows like the bursting stormy clouds. Then Hanuman covered with the rain of arrows appeared like king of mountains covered with showers of rain.

સ શરાન્મોઘયામાસ તેષા માશુચરઃ કપિઃ|
રથવેગં ચ વીરાણાં વિચરન્વિમલેંબરે||9||
સ તૈઃ ક્રીડન્ ધનુષ્મદ્ભિર્વ્યોમ્નિ વીરઃ પ્રકાશતે|
ધનુષ્મદ્ભિર્યથા મેઘૈર્મારુતઃ પ્રભુરંબરે||10||

સ|| આશુચરઃ સઃ કપિઃ વિમલે અંબરે વિચરન્ તેષાં વીરાણાં શરાન્ રથવેગં ચ મોઘયામાસ||વ્યોમ્નિ ધનુષ્મદ્ભિઃ તૈઃ ક્રીડન્ સઃ વીરઃ અમ્બરે ધનુષ્મદ્ભિઃ મેઘૈઃ પ્રભુઃ મારુતિઃ યથા પ્રકાશતે||

The Vanara moving fast in the clear sky rendered the arrows of the heroes and the speed of their chariots impotent. The hero playing with those carrying bows in the sky shining like the powerful wind god playing in the sky with the clouds.

સકૃત્વા નિનદં ઘોરં ત્રાસયં સ્તાં મહાચમૂમ્|
ચકાર હનુમાન્ વેગં તેષુ રક્ષસ્સુ વીર્યવાન્||11||
તલેનાભ્યહનત્કાંશ્ચિત્ પાદૈઃ કાંશ્ચિત્પરંતપઃ
મુષ્ટિનાભ્યહનત્કાંચિન્ નખૈઃ કાંશ્ચિદ્વ્યદારયત્||12||

સ||વીર્યવાન્ સઃ ઘોરં નિનદં કૃત્વા તામ્ મહાચમૂં ત્રાસયન્ તેષુ રક્ષસ્સુ વેગં ચકાર||પરંતઃ કાંશ્ચિત્ તલેન અભ્યહનત્ | કાશ્ચિ પાદૈઃ | કાશ્ચિત્ મુષ્ટિના | કાશ્ચિત્ નખૈઃ | વ્યદારયત્ ||

The hero moved fast making a loud noise frightening the army of Rakshasas. The scorcher of enemies hit some with palm, some with feet and some with fist. Some were pierced with nails.

પ્રમમાથોરસા કાંશ્ચિદૂરૂભ્યાં અપરાન્ કપિઃ|
કેચિત્તસ્ય નિનાદેન તત્રૈવ પતિતા ભુવિ||13||
તતસ્તેષ્વવસન્નેષુ ભૂમૌ નિપતિતેષુ ચ|
તત્સૈન્યમગમત્ સર્વં દિશોદશ ભયાર્દિતમ્||14||

સ||કપિઃ કાંશ્ચિત્ ઉરસા | અપરાન્ ઊરુભ્યાં પ્રમાથ | કેચિત્ તસ્ય નિનાદેન તત્રૈવ ભુવિ પતિતાઃ||તેષુ અવસન્નેષુ ભૂમૌ નિપતિતેષુ ચ તતઃ સર્વં સૈન્યં ભયાર્દિતં દશ દિશઃ અગમત્||

The Vanara strangled some with chest, some others with thighs. Some fell on the ground there itself by his roar. When they all dropped down dead on the ground , the army struck with fear fled in all directions.

વિનેદુર્વિસ્વરં નાગા નિપેતુર્ભુવિ વાજિનઃ|
ભગ્નનીડધ્વજચ્ચત્રૈર્ભૂશ્ચ કીર્ણાsભવ દ્રથૈઃ||15||
સ્રવતારુધિરેણાથ સ્રવંત્યો દર્શિતાઃ પથિ|
વિવિધૈશ્ચ સ્વરૈર્લંકા નનાદ વિકૃતં તદા||16||

સ||નાગાઃ વિસ્વરમ્ વિનેદુઃ | વાજિનઃ ભુવિ નિપેતુઃ| ભૂશ્ચ ભગ્નનીડધ્વજચ્છત્રૈઃ રથૈઃ કીર્ણા અભવત્||અથા સ્રવતા રુધિરેણ પથિ સ્રવંત્યઃ દર્શિતાઃ તદા લંકા વિવિધૈઃ સ્વરૈઃ વિકૃતં નનાદ||

The elephants trumpeted discordantly. Horses fell down on the ground. Even earth had the broken seats, parasols and flagstaffs. Streams of blood flowed. Then Lanka was filled with many kinds of horrifying sounds.

સતાન્પ્રવૃદ્દાન્વિનિહત્ય રાક્ષસાન્
મહાબલશ્ચંડપરાક્રમઃ કપિઃ|
યુયુત્સુરન્યૈઃ પુનરેવ રાક્ષસૈઃ
તમેવ વીરોsભિજગામ તોરણમ્||17||

સ|| વીરઃ મહાબલઃ ચણ્ડ પરાક્રમઃ સ કપિઃ પ્રવૃદ્ધાન્ તાન્ રાક્ષસાન્ વિનિહૃત્ય અન્યૈઃ યુયુત્સુઃ પુનરેવ તં તોરણમેવ અભિજગામ||

The mighty hero , fiercely valiant Vanara having killed mighty Rakshasas desirous of battling others again went to the archway.

ઇત્યાર્ષે શ્રીમદ્રામાયણે આદિકાવ્યે વાલ્મીકીયે
ચતુર્વિંશત્ સહસ્રિકાયાં સંહિતાયામ્
શ્રીમત્સુન્દરકાંડે પંચચત્ત્વારિંશસ્સર્ગઃ ||

Thus ends Sarga forty five of Sundarakanda in Ramayana the very first poem ever composed in Sanskrit by the first poet sage Valmiki.
